Trooper tasers Darth Vader

Trooper tasers 'Darth Vader'

Trooper tasers 'Darth Vader' - A Florida trooper reportedly had to use his stun gun on a man dressed as Darth Vader. The trooper says the man was drunk and he tried to assault him. The trooper says he used his Taser on the man, but the prongs couldn't make contact with his skin because of his thick coat.

A man wearing Darth Vader mask found that the force wasn't with him when confronted by a police officer.
Michael Cole ended up being tasered with a 50,000 volt stun gun and hit with pepper spray after he became violent towards a patrol officer.
The 38-year-old, who appeared drunk, had been asked to leave a construction site in Orlando, Florida, in the early hours of the morning.
Cole, who was wearing a black Darth Vader mask, refused the officer's instructions, swore and lay down in the road.
When Cole tried to punch the officer he was zapped with the Taser.
ORLANDO, Florida (WKMG) - A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was attacked in Orlando early Thursday by a man wearing a Darth Vader mask, authorities said.
Michael Cole, 28, of Orlando, was arrested on felony charges of resisting arrest and battery on an officer.

According to the FHP, a construction worker informed the trooper around 2:45 a.m. of an intoxicated man wearing a Darth Vader mask who was walking in the middle of a road near Summerlin Avenue and Anderson Street.
The trooper approached the masked man, later identified as Cole, and repeatedly asked him to get out of the road, the FHP said. Cole instead cursed at the trooper and then proceeded to lie down in the roadway, authorities said.

The trooper then told Cole to get up, but he attempted to punch and kick the trooper, who deployed his Taser, according to the FHP. Officials said Cole's thick jacket prevented the Taser from working, so the trooper used pepper spray to subdue him.
Our sister station WKMG Local 6 News captured video showing the man screaming while being placed onto a stretcher.

Cole complained of shortness of breath and was taken to Florida Hospital South. He was later released and booked into the Orange County Jail.

The trooper was not injured.
